My Book Club Essay on the Borrowers-Kelly

I thought the Borrowers by Mary Norton was a dull book it wasn't the characters that were boring it was the things they did. It was like one thing after another and that wouldn't have been so bad if they were doing different things but instead they were doing the same things as before!

One example is that Pod and Arrietty both get seen by the boy. For example when Arrietty gets seen her parents are only a little scared, and it was just for a sentence! Also the author Mary Norton said that the Borrowers would be REALLY scared if they ever got "seen"!

Another reason is that when the boy lifts up the floorboard in their house the parents are only a little scared for just a paragraph. For example when Homily is frightinged she is just for a second and then she is like Oh I like you now!

I think that Mary Norton should have made the book more exciting because right know the book is like a boring add for boring shoes!

As you can see from my examples the Borrowers is not the best book in the world. I give it 2 trees.

  4. Kelly, good job so far. I think you can combine paragraph 2 and 3 to make one. Also, when you tell Mary to make the book exciting, give her a couple SPECIFIC examples. After you have done this, read the piece out loud to yourself. You may find some areas that you can add commas or change the wording for clairity.

  5. Kelly,
Great job! I really thought that you putt a lot of work into the essay. You might want to add some ands in your sentences though. They traveled off a little too much. But overall, I thought it was a wonderful essay!

  8. Kelly,

I liked your post and the evidence you gave. For example, when you said the parents were only scared for a paragraph.

I also think that you could have told the author how to make the book more exciting.

Overall, it was a great post.
