EAR, THE EYE, AND THE ARM

The Ear, the Eye, and the Arm by Nancy Farmer was in my opinion not a good book, and I will tell you why.

The reason that I thought it was so bad was because the book was so confusing. The middle was horrible because the some of the main characters Tendia, Rita, and Kuda, go through all of these places and I mean a lot (like 15 places in 300 pages.) I think that they needed to go through all of them, but they didn't need to go through them multiple times. Like for example Tendia, Kuda, and Rita go through Dead Man's Vlei a lot of times when they could have gone through it once for a longer time. Another reason it was bad because there was a glossary and when there is a glossary the book is automatically confusing, every 5 minutes you have to flip over to the back of the book and look up a word. Another let down was because the book said that it was 200 years into the future and the only thing that came even close to in the future was the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm's house. If I had to give evidence for the author this is what I would say "I think that the idea of the book isn't too bad, but the middle was too long". I think that Nancy Farmer could improve the middle by taking a little part of it out.

I think that this book was worth reading in someways, but I don't think that I would read it again or recommend the Ear, the Eye, and the Arm to anybody else.

This is the rating that I would give this book 2 out of 5 for exactly all of the reasons that I said up above.

  2. Matty,

Wow! Good detailed writing with this post, definitely. I do have a couple of suggestions for you, though.
    1. When you were explaining that it was confusing, it actually confused me! I really just did not get it.
    2. You did not quite give enough reasons. You only gave two, but three would have been OK.

    Good work, though!!
