Flipped- Addi B

Flipped

by Wendelin van Draanen

This is my assertion about my book-group book. The name of this book is Flipped by Wendelin van Draanen . It is very good in some places but not so good in others. Like there were some parts that the author could have left out. Definitely. There were some parts that were so embarrassing that I would have killed myself ( no, you have to read the book )

Why I think this book is embarrassing because there is one scene where one of the main characters, Bryce , tries to kiss the other main character, Juliana , on purpose (I mean not on a dare) in front of the entire 6th grade! Another reason that it is embarrassing is because once when Juliana is getting Bryce’s kite, which was stuck in a tree, when she comes down from the tree, she finds out that the seat of her pants has ripped of.

I think that the author wrote the book pretty darn well, but the author could’ve changed some things. I think that she should have wrote a prologue were Bryce starts really trying to impress Juliana and then she starts liking him again so then they aren’t at each others throats any more.

So, as you can see, and because these reasons, I think that this book is very embarrassing. I looked these reasons up in the book. I would give this book 3 out of 5 trees

  2. Adam, good review. I have a couple suggestions though. This is a formal piece of writing so lines like "This is my assertion about my book-group book." don't really belong. The reader will see that it is your assertion, no need to tell them. Also, " I would have killed myself" is a bit dramatic. Try and choose a different line.

You also may want to suggest another thing for the author since you said you could have changed some things.
